In Action Projects

Current Major Project

Beginning in June of 2011, the Junior League will partner with the YWCA Early Childhood Learning Center to launch a KIDS CONNECT program. The objective of the project is to increase parental involvement with the children who attend the YWCA childcare program. Positive parental involvement and interaction plays a significant role in childhood development. The YWCA Center serves many children who have open cases through Children's Protective Services and may be at risk of abuse or neglect, as well as children who reside in the homeless shelter at the YWCA.

Done In A Day Projects

In addition to our Major Project, the League participates in many one day projects. Although planning and preparation may take longer, the project itself is completed in one day. The Done In A Day (DIAD) projects for the 2010-2011 league year have not yet been finalized.

Provisional Project

Every year our Provisional Class of new members brainstorm, choose and carry out their own project during their admission year. The 2010-2011 Provisional Class is in the process of choosing their project at this time. Please check back for more details.

Current Sustainer Project

This year we are looking to engage 15 Sustaining members in a project supporting the Early Childhood Resource Center (ECRC) by assembling early learning backpacks which are sold to schools and libraries across the state. The Early Childhood Resource Center is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of early education and care by providing professional development, mentoring and resources to teachers, caregivers and parents in Stark County.

Past Projects

Since 1937, the Junior League of Stark County has completed projects in the Stark County community affecting children, women, senior citizens, the urban and natural environment, education, cultural arts and healthy families. Below is a summary of our projects over the past few years.

Major Community Project

The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio, Inc. collaborated with the Stark County Hunger Task Force (SCHTF) to improve and expand their Senior Pantry Program and Backpacks for Kids Program.
